Ponte Vedra Beach is unincorporated, so the services a city would run come from St. Johns County, and your power company depends on which side of County Road 210 you live on. Start here, then follow the links to our full guides. The county’s general line is County Administration, 904-209-0530.

Electricity
- Beaches Energy Services (city of Jacksonville Beach) serves the area bounded by Atlantic Boulevard, the ocean, the Intracoastal Waterway and County Road 210, plus a strip along both sides of A1A about three miles south of the A1A-Mickler Road intersection, its service map page says. Start service on its start/stop service page; customer care is 904-247-6241. Have the service address ready.
- FPL and JEA serve other parts of St. Johns County. Ask the seller or landlord which one serves the address, then start service through that utility.
Outage numbers and maps are in our power outage guide.
Water and sewer
The St. Johns County Utility Department takes new service applications by phone at 904-209-2700 or with its residential application (PDF). A deposit is due when you apply; call for the amount. Accounts set up before noon are turned on the same day, the county says. If your address is not on the county system, the seller, landlord or homeowners association can tell you the water provider.
Natural gas and internet
If the home has natural gas service, ask the seller which company provides it. For internet, providers that publish service pages for Ponte Vedra Beach include AT&T and Xfinity; each checks availability by address.
Trash, taxes, permits and voting
- Trash and recycling: paid through your property tax bill; buy your own garbage cans. See trash and recycling.
- Property taxes: bills arrive around Nov. 1, with up to 4% off for early payment. File for homestead by March 1. See property taxes.
- Building or remodeling: permits come from the county, and part of the area follows the Ponte Vedra Zoning District rules. See permits and zoning.
- Voting: update your registration with the Supervisor of Elections. See voting.
- Who to call: the county offices and commissioner for your district are in who to call.
Driver’s license and car registration
Florida says you are a resident when you take a job here, enroll children in public school, register to vote, file for homestead or live here more than six months in a row. Then:
- Driver’s license within 30 days of becoming a resident, applied for in person.
- Florida insurance, title and registration within 10 days for cars, boats and mobile homes.
The St. Johns County Tax Collector handles both. Its Ponte Vedra Branch, 151 Sawgrass Corners Drive, Suite 100, is open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays; written tests are not given after 4 p.m., and road tests are by appointment at the main office, 4030 Lewis Speedway, St. Augustine. Out-of-state vehicles need a VIN verification and proof of Florida insurance; see the Tax Collector’s out-of-state registration page. Call 904-209-2250.
Schools and pets
- Schools: the St. Johns County School District assigns schools by address; see our schools guide for registration papers and the calendar.
- Pets: the county’s Animal Control page does not list a pet license; ask Animal Control, 904-209-0746, about rules for your area.
