Beaches Energy’s service map page describes its area as bounded by Atlantic Boulevard on the north, the ocean on the east, the Intracoastal Waterway on the west and County Road 210 on the south, plus a strip along both sides of State Road A1A running about three miles south of the A1A-Mickler Road intersection. For addresses outside those lines, check with FPL or JEA.

The Public Service Commission approved a third amendment to the FPL-JEA territorial agreement in St. Johns County in September 2020, letting JEA serve an entire planned residential development, so lines between utilities can run through a neighborhood. If you are moving in, ask the seller or the utility; see our moving here guide.

Before you call

  • Check your breakers and ask a neighbor whether their power is out. FPL says that if your neighbors have power, you may need to reset your breakers.
  • Look at the map. FPL’s Power Tracker updates about every 15 minutes and does not show brief flickers. Beaches Energy’s map shows affected areas and restoration progress.
  • Report it if your home is not shown on the map.

Beaches Energy says it ranks first among Florida electric utilities on the System Average Interruption Duration Index, a measure of how long customers are without power.

Downed lines and safety

  • Stay away from any downed line and keep children and pets away from it.
  • Beaches Energy’s 24-hour emergency line, 904-247-6171, takes outages, downed lines and trees or limbs in power lines.
  • FPL asks customers to report downed lines or unsafe equipment by calling 911 or 800-468-8243.
  • Portable generators of 10,000 running watts or less are tax-free in Florida; see our hurricane prep guide.
